Peter Fennell Conquers 12 O’Clock Hills in 25.39 mins

108 participants between runners, joggers and walkers braved the inclement weather conditions to partake in the first ever Mountain Challenge up and over the 12 O’Clock Hills in Snaty . The morning started out very wet but by noon there was a clearance to brighter weather which allowed the event to go ahead. First home in a time of 25mins and 39seconds was Peter Fennell of Togher AC in Co Cork. In second place with a time of 26mins and 26seconds was the pre race favourite Mike Cunningham of Cappamore Co Limerick. In third place in a time of 28mins and 13 seconds was John Hannon from Sixmilebridge.

The ladies event winner was the pre race favourite Deirdre Finn from Killaloe. In second place was Maggie Chojan a polish national now living in Cork and in third place was Linda Toomey. Special category winners were: Johnny Daly, Sean Manning, Bernie Kelly and Dixie O’Reagan.

The junior event winners were Rachael Hartigan and Caoimhe Carmody.

This challenge was organised under the auspices of the IrishMountain running Association with representatives Mark Murray race supervisor, Deirdre Finn and Lorretto Duggan in attendance to assist the local 12 O’Clock Hills project team to supervise the event. The revenue from the event will be put back into the 12 O’Clock Hills project and the project team wish to thank everyone who helped in any way in making it such a wonderful success.

Ladies: 1st Deirdre Finn, 35.05 mins. 2nd Maggie Chojan, 35.23 mins. 3rd Linda Toomey, 35.52
