This morning at dawn, 22nd August 2012 David and Miriam Hamilton were part of a team of 145 people to summit Mount Kilimanjaro at one time. This is the largest number ever to summit together. David was the youngest member of this group and lead the ‘charge to the top’!
They set off around midnight with lamps on their heads in two groups which met at the summit. After ten minutes on the roof of Africa for photographs they had to set off again! Dropping from the summit(6000m) to their next camp at Mweka Hut(3100m) a total of around 14 hours walking.
Thank you all again for making all this possible for David and Miriam. Over 100 000 Euro was raised for the two main charities, Crumlin Children’s Hospital and Chernobyl Children International. The cheques will be handed over in the next few days. You can keep up to date on ‘Ian McKeever’s Kilimanjaro Achievers 2012 facebook’.
